Speaker 1 (00:00):

The average working couple will receive 1 million in social security benefits over their lifetime. And according to Forbes, you could increase your social security income by 200,000. If you have the right claiming strategy here to talk about it today, Ryan Thacker and Tyson Thacker from boss retirement solutions, salt lake they're published authors they're radio talk show host, and you can see 'em every Tuesday right here on ABC four, Ryan and Tyson. You had me at an extra $200,000. Tell us how to get more from social

Speaker 2 (00:32):

Security. You know, Nisha, this reminds us of one of Tyson I's favorite stories, which is by Russell Conwell acres of diamonds. And the story just real quick is about a very wealthy farmer. And he has this beautiful farm. He's enjoying the harvest and he's looking at it. And then he gets a visitor and the visitor comes and talks to him about diamond mines. And this is like the most amazing thing. You can go find these diamond mines and they're all over the world. And diamonds are literally God's light captured in stone. So he, he goes to bed that night and he feels, you know, maybe my farm isn't as great as I thought it was. Maybe I need to sell my farm and go and search of these diamonds. So he does, he sells the farm and he goes out there, spends all of his fortune and he dies a poor man. And then one day this visitor comes back and visits the new owner of the farm. And he's watering his horse there in the stream. And he sees this sparkle and he reaches down and he pulls out one of the largest diamonds and ends up that, that farm has acres of diamonds on it. The point of that story is just like this $200,000 when it comes to social security. So many people skip right over acres of diamonds that are right beneath their feet when it comes to social

Speaker 1 (01:42):

Security, we've got it already. Yes. We don't have to go anywhere to find it. We have it. So Tyson, how does this all work for

Speaker 2 (01:48):

Us? Yeah. So social security ends up being the foundational piece. Literally those acres of diamonds that everybody gets, if they understand how it works. And the average, as you mentioned, couple over their retirement life gets at least a million dollars in benefits over that lifetime. We see a lot more than that. And so claiming the social security the right time and the right way becomes critical to how this is going to work with their own acre of diamonds. It does things like you could double your Medicare premium. If you take it at the wrong time, it could create an avalanche of taxes. If you take social security at the wrong time, you could be missing out on all kinds of benefits as well. Like losing thousands of dollars because you don't know there's a spousal benefit. And then that 200 extra thousand dollars that you mentioned that Forbes just talked about. You think about the million dollars, plus the $200,000. That's not Trump change that can go a long way in your retirement.

Speaker 1 (02:43):

And this also Forbes, this goes into the right claiming strategy. That's right. Understanding what that means.

Speaker 2 (02:48):

You got it. And the important thing to remember, it's not a one size fits all strategy. In other words, you don't want to claim it just like your brother did, or your neighbor did, or your coworker. You want a customized strategy. That's gonna show you exactly where your acres of diamonds are when it comes to social security. And this is not a one size fits all strategy. In fact, we have a customized analysis. What that will do for you is it'll help you understand exactly when and how to, uh, claim your social security, how to avoid the avalanche of taxes that you could trigger. And also how to capture other very valuable benefits from your social security that can put more money in your pocket.

Speaker 1 (03:27):

So Tyson, who are we talking to out there? Just people who have saved 200,000 for retirement.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
